Abstract

Smart retail technologies (SRT), the reflection of digital transformation in the retail sector, are radically altering the traditional shopping experience by integrating physical and digital worlds. Despite this high practical potential, literature addressing the theoretical infrastructure of smart retailing and its reflections on consumers through a holistic approach remains limited. Addressing this gap, this study proposes a unique conceptual model built upon four fundamental dimensions and presents 30 hypotheses to deconstruct the multi-layered structure of SRT. In the developed model, 'Technological Barriers and Psychological Dimension' define cognitive obstacles restricting SRT usage, while 'Motivational and Individual Factors' are incorporated as moderating mechanisms that mitigate these effects. Within the dimension of new-generation experience areas, metaverse integration and gamification strategies are examined, while the ethical and sustainable dimension is linked with green marketing technologies. This proposed framework provides a structured theoretical foundation for future empirical and interdisciplinary research, while also serving as a strategic guide for practitioners and marketing managers.
